People...

We live life in the Fast Lane.... never sparing a thought for others who dwell in the farthest periphery of our lives...They are common faces... Faces, we overlook everyday... while running helter-skelter in the day's work.... Faces, we dont want to remember perhaps, because they dont add any VALUE to our selfish lives...

New Army Recruits... "Hain Tumhare hawaley Watan Sathiyon..."

A Highcourt peon.... had to coax him a lot for this photo... please note his uniform... it still says 'Calcutta Highcourt'.... I loved his golden 'HC' Brooch and his red-gold cummerbandh...

Drivers whiling away their time playing cards... as they wait for 'babus' to come...

A fatigued rickshaw puller sleeps on the ground...underneath the shade of a banyan tree... while the sun overhead played hide and seek..

'Piyara-wali' counting the fruits, before she starts selling....

Sleep claims him... drowning his sorrows... resting his tired, aching bones... the hard floor of the foothpath doesnot seem to bother him... maybe because he has become used to it... maybe it has come to a point where he doesnt care.... he slumbers...heedless to the people & traffic passing by...

This one is AMAZING... Dressed as 'Lord Shiva'... I found him buying 'Aloor chop' from a vendor in front of Bankshall Court... Wonderfully colourful costume...

A Mousambi seller... notice the young lad standing next to the baskets, witha glass of tea in his hand... the fruit-seller's son perhaps... making an early srart in his career... learing the ropes from his father...

A fruit seller with his colourful wares... (Mousambi, Apple, Pears, Custard-apple, and Anar) attending to his customer...

A very old woman... begging near the GPO... can you see her pleading eyes? She holds a steel bowl ... and stands upright with the help of a staff...However she doesnot look like the regular beggers... She is wearing glasses... a comparitively clean white sari... could be one of those old mother pused into begging my
their disgusting children... who refuse to look after them...!!!!

Perhaps....she can give any of the Ramp Models a run for their money, with her mal-nutritioned body... she however was desparately looking for something to eat... and she finds a peice of grape-fruit... her clothes are black with accumulated dirt...

A fresh fruit Juice counter... Mousombi, Anar, Pineapples & Grapes... the vibrant colours look refreshing... as does the juice, I am sure...

A woman begging for alms .... with outstretched hand and penetrating eyes... she has tatoos on her fore-arm and around her neck... she is wearing "shaankha-pola' the mark of a married woman... (though the Sindoor is missing)

'Jari-booti' (mixture of roots & herbs) Sellers... They sell them as cures for different ailments... 'Au naturalle'. different herbs are to be tied up with different coloured threads... hence the coloured thread balls....
An old woman begging near Raj Bhavan... sitting on the mat with her legs pulled up to her chest, wrapped in a thread-bare dhoti...
her eyes drooping out of sheer exhaution... yet she hold her palm out steadily...maybe out of desperate, will-power.... her accompaniments... a bottle of water and a few collected coins...
A man seated in the bus-shelter... waiting for a bus... or perhaps, just tired... thanks to whoever sponsored the seats...
A Churiwala @ Swabhumi... a very common face... there have been countless times, when my friends And I have bought bangles from him... the differnt colours & designs in his little shop, catches the eye... very easily...
